CS106AX: Programming Methodologies in JavaScript and Python

October 17^th

• One of your fellow CS106AX classmates surfaced a really neat video relating the Stern-Brocot tree and its number system to all of the real numbers. I just watched it (at 1.25x speed) and think it's really well done.

September 10^th

• Greetings, potential CS106AX students, and welcome to the website you didn't realize you needed in your life until today! We're still more than three weeks away from Autumn Quarter, so there's not much to share just yet. There are, however, some things to consider when deciding whether to take CS106A or CS106AX, and those things are:
  
  
  • CS106AX assumes some prior programming experience, whereas CS106A assumes none whatsoever. But because CS106AX students know how to program in some programming language already, you get to work through more advanced assignments and learn the material in greater depth than could reasonably be expected from someone who's never coded before.
  • Because of your prior programming experience, we're able to review the basics much more quickly, understand how larger programs are designed and implemented, and why building web mobile applications often relies on an ability to code in multiple programming languages.
  • CS106AX teaches two programming languages: JavaScript and Python. JavaScript is always deployed within the browser itself to foster interactivity and user experience, and Python is often used to implement the web server-synthesized HTML pages and delivers them (along with some JavaScript code) to the browser.
